Sunflower Bank is pleased to announce its recent investment in Midwest Housing Equity Group’s (“MHEG”) Fund 56, LP. The $10 million investment assists with funding four affordable housing developments in Sunflower Bank communities in Kansas and Texas.

Sunflower Bank, N.A. is thrilled to announce the launch of a new small business lending platform in partnership with SmartBiz, the leading AI-powered small business financing platform. Through a new end-to-end online portal, small businesses in Sunflower Bank, N.A.’s branch footprint now have access to a streamlined process to apply for conventional small business loans from $25,000-$350,000. Small Business Administration (SBA) 7(a) and Express Line loan products will be available beginning in second quarter 2023.

Sunflower Bank’s Community Affairs Office organized fifteen community listening sessions throughout the Bank’s footprint during the 2022 calendar year. Listening sessions were held in five states across fourteen markets with 110 participant organizations focused on affordable housing, economic development, financial education, or community services. Sunflower Bank created the sessions to bring the Bank’s leadership and their local communities together to identify and address the financial health needs of individuals and organizations in each market. The listening sessions result in actionable feedback for Sunflower Bank, and its First National 1870 and Guardian Mortgage divisions, to use to enhance lending, inform community involvement, and identify local needs.

Sunflower Bank and First National 1870 announce a total donation of $101,895 to schools that participated in their ABC Program for Education’s 2021-2022 school year campaign. Sunflower Bank originated the program in 2001, and since then has contributed over $1.6 million to support kindergarten through 12th grade education in the communities it serves. Donations were distributed throughout October 2022 by local branch teams.

Sunflower Bank is proud to announce its partnership with On the Road Lending, a nonprofit auto lender that provides character-based affordable loans for reliable cars. The $525,000 investment with an additional $25,000 designated for operating support will enable On the Road Lending to bring its services to rural communities where there are often no public transportation options. Through a listening session held together in May 2022, both On the Road Lending and Sunflower Bank identified the importance of addressing the significant transportation needs gap that exists in rural Texas.

Sunflower Bank announces that its new Achievement Checking Account was officially certified by the national Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund (CFE Fund) as meeting the Bank On National Account Standards (2021 - 2022). Being awarded the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund’s Bank On National Account Standards Certification indicates that the Sunflower Bank Achievement Checking Account meets over 25 features for safe and affordable consumer transaction accounts. The Achievement Checking account is currently available in all of Sunflower Bank’s personal banking locations in 20 Texas communities.

Sunflower Bank announces the expansion of its Community Affairs Office focused on the institution’s community lending, service and investment opportunities. The Community Affairs Office is led by Danny Spears, Director of Community Reinvestment, with regional efforts coordinated by Community Development Officers (CDO), Becca Maxwell, Doris Ortiz, Gloria Sanderson, and Kyle Stingley.
